Slow down, look closely and create your own little street scene from found and discarded materials.
In this relaxed and creative workshop, you’ll use pieces of weathered and reclaimed wood, bark and other found materials to create a miniature street scene. Your piece might become a seaside street, a village, a woodland lane or somewhere entirely imagined.
The workshop draws on Forest Bathing, a practice of slowing down and reconnecting with the natural world through our senses. We’ll take time to handle and explore the materials, noticing their texture, colour, shape, scent and natural character, and considering where they might have come from and what stories they might hold.
Rather than starting with a fixed idea of what to make, you’ll be encouraged to look at the materials differently and allow them to suggest what they could become. Along the way, we’ll explore how slowing down, paying attention and engaging our senses can help us notice things we might otherwise overlook.
No previous creative or making experience is needed. The emphasis is on curiosity, imagination and enjoying the process, with everyone creating a unique piece to take home.
